Is this by any chance correct?

@iGreen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have to include the area of the base?

OpenStudy (brianissa):

I believe you do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so first, what is the area of the base?

OpenStudy (brianissa):

For the area of the base I got the 16,384 but I think I did this all wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

32*32 = 1024

OpenStudy (brianissa):

ok then I would just substitute that 1024 and my answer would be correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, let's see. the triangle on the side of the prism has a base of 32 and a slant height of 34. so the area of that traingle is 32*34/2 and there are 4 or those so the total area of the triangles is 4(32*34/2) = 2*32*34 = 2176 so now if you add the base area with the area of the triangles, you get the total surface area

OpenStudy (brianissa):

thanks
