Why was the Dust Bowl so devastating?

The dust bowl was part of the great depression. It was literally a large cloud of dust covering the land and filling the air. It ruin many crops and farms. When the farms shut down families moved to the western part of the U.S to find work. Many people were out of money, food, and work. Therefore many starved and families suffered.
