(3) Before he became the king of the gods, Zeus overthrew his father Cronus. (4) Cronus wanted to maintain all the ruling power, so he imprisoned his children by swallowing them. (5) However, Zeus was enabled by his mother Rhea to remove power from Cronus. (6) Rhea hid Zeus and tricked Cronus by giving him a rock in swaddling clothes. (7) Therefore, Zeus escaped his fate and removed the power away from Cronus when he reached manhood. (8) After that, Zeus obtained governing power over all of the other gods and goddesses.
