Which of the following is a testable hypothesis? A. Hurricanes look larger in images taken by an orbiting satellite than in video footage taken by weather reporters standing on Earth's surface. B. The growth rate of an E. coli bacterial colony will increase as temperature increases from 10 °C to 50 °C. C. High levels of salt in soil will probably affect plant growth by either making the plants grow better or causing the plants to die. D. Is there a proportional relationship between the number of pimples a person gets and the amount of chocolate he/she eats?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jacobrocket173

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its very close between C and D but i think its C too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) I think D would be more of the question to the "project"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ikr thats why i was thinking it was D for a while

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:P and I have a few more :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should I ask them in here or another question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idc its up to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk ill ask in here

Juan wants to see how air expands when it is heated. He is able to use any of the following supplies - a balloon, a heat lamp, a spring scale, and a meter stick. Which is the best procedure to follow for the experiment? A. Measure the weight of the deflated balloon, inflate the balloon, heat the balloon with the heat lamp, then measure the inflated balloon's width. B. Use the spring scale to measure the weight of the balloon before and after it is blown up. C. Inflate the balloon, heat the balloon using the heat lamp, and measure the weight of the balloon with the spring scale. D. Inflate the balloon, measure the width of the balloon, heat the balloon using the heat lamp, and then measure the width again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is most likely going to be D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk Dan wants to test the effects of different amounts of antibiotic on bacteria. While setting up his experiment he makes sure to use the same type of antibiotic, the same type of bacteria, and the same type of incubator for each trial. Which phrase below best describes this part of the experiment? A. setting up constants B. analyzing results C. forming a hypothesis D. collecting data

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would say its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but im not totally for sure tho okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk

All organisms need instructions to specify their traits. The instructions, or code, that is responsible for all the inherited traits of an organism A. is stored within the mitochondria of cells. B. is passed from the offspring to the parent. C. is formed after an organism is fully-grown. D. is held in genetic material called DNA.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you in k12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but its okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would have to say its D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the living world, there is a great deal of genetic variation. The genetic information of dogs differs from the genetic information of cats. The genetic information of plants differs from the genetic information of bacteria. Your genetic information differs from your father's genetic information, and so on. Which of the following is least likely to be a source of genetic variation among living organisms? A. asexual reproduction B. meiosis C. sexual reproduction D. mutations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its A for sure because asexual reproduction is basically when the parent makes a clone of its self so that mean tht the DNA doesnt change during that process(sry if that wasnt necessary)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you and how many more can you help on? AND THANKS I didn't understand that till now!! ^,^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many do you have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like 10 more but you don't have to help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

A scientist finds a new life form and determines that it performs photosynthesis. Which of the 6 kingdoms could it belong to? Select the list that contains all the possible kingdoms. A. Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, and Fungi B. Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, Protista, and Plantae C. Protista and Plantae D. Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, Fungi, and Plantae

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would have to be C(want me to explain)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes pls

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an organism can only be in one domain, one kingdom, one phylom and so forth and protista eubacteria and archeabacteria are domains and plantae is plants and plants are the only things that can go thro photosynthesis(other than phytoplankton) its logical that the answer is C plus its new if it was old the it would be in the archeabacteria domain but its not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:O That's a awesome explanation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TY!

Selma hypothesizes that the mass of a sample of water will not change if it is frozen. She conducts an experiment to test her hypothesis. Her experimental steps are as follows: 1. Fill a beaker with 500 mL of water. 2. 3. Place the beaker in the freezer. 4. After the water freezes, place the beaker on the balance and measure its mass. Which of the following steps is missing from Selma's experiment? A. Run the water through a filter to make sure there are no impurities in it. B. Set a timer for 2 hours. C. Place the beaker on the balance and measure its mass. D. Use a thermometer to measure the water's temperature. I think its c because she wanted to see if the mass will change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if its frozen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no offense but thats like a duh question because you need to measure before and after its frozen so the answer is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know I just wanted to make sure becxause my brother said it was b and I thought it was c but I cant trust my brother he has a 20 in science for his grade XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xD wow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ikr

A scientist observing a group of spider monkeys noticed that the adult females often spend time picking leaves off of tree branches. The scientist hypothesizes that this behavior is caused by boredom. Is the scientist’s hypothesis valid? A. Yes, the hypothesis could be tested through a controlled experiment. B. Yes, boredom is a likely explanation for the spider monkeys’ behavior. C. No, emotions of non-human organisms cannot be tested. D. No, humans are the only organisms that experience boredom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my english is as bad as his science and im a sophmore

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow XD and I think a or b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a C or B in English right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lemma check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep a c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not for sure on this one but i think its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you wanna know what i have for english?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number wise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...............

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah its bad

The _______ system breaks down food, and the _______ system transports nutrients to the cells of the body. A. circulatory; digestive B. nervous; excretory C. digestive; nervous D. digestive; circulatory C or D I think D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and lol is XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

B? Bison are grazers, living in herds that migrate in search of better pasture. Bison live in _____. A. deserts B. grasslands C. tropical rain forests D. freshwater biomes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i'll still be here then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B is the most logical one so your correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me know if you need me to explain something okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I will :) The _______ biome is the largest on Earth. A. marine B. polar C. freshwater D. terrestrial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not for sure but i think its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Taiga is the world's largest land biome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

busnt it a choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats for land tho not the entire earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is a question but, I don't hunderstnad the whole hh or Hh thing can you explain http://prntscr.com/6m8xpj

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 2/3's of earth is made of water so marine biome seems very logical

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the one you dont get i can answer easily for you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you just wait or...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

waiting*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nO SORRY MOM CALLED

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Op

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

opps caps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically hh and Hh are just traits from two parents that are passed down to their offspring

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't the girl verison just hh and the guy Hh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think B for that one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it can be either or

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it is B because only two of the offspring will have sickle cell(hh) while the other two ar carriers(Hh)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that explain it a little

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a longer one but I belive its A Derrick just got home from playing soccer on a muddy field. He is curious how different brands of laundry detergent compare in removing mud from clothes, so he sets up an experiment. In one laundry load, he puts his muddy socks with Brand A detergent. In the next load, he puts his muddy jersey with Brand B detergent. In the final load, he puts his muddy shorts with Brand C detergent. Afterward, he noticed that the jersey came out the cleanest. He concludes that Brand B is the best detergent for removing mud from clothes. Is his conclusion valid? A. No; there were too many variables in the experiment. B. No; Derrick was biased toward Brand B. C. No; there were too many controls in the experiment. D. Yes; the experiment was set up correctly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not b though im pretty sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be C because if it worked for the jersey then it doesnt mean it will work for the socks or shorts unless that was tested which it wasnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mk http://prntscr.com/6m92o9 thats the next onw since it has a small picture i had to screenshot it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be C because the holes arent around eachother
