@inowalst @ilovepie123 plz help!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it might be either b or c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plz help!

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

area of a parallelogram = base * height. area of a triangle = 1/2 8 base * height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i do that then add?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

yep :)! you add the two together

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

find the base of the triangle, then you'll have the total base.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, i'll tag you and tell u what i get (this might be a bit :)

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

no problem :) give it your best shot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is "8 base" just 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got d

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

6 will be the height in the parallelogram. 8 will be the height in the triangle. the base will be the same for both the parallelogram and triangle (17)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

am i right??

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

|dw:1427505820809:dw| that's whatI was thinking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, i got d, is that correct??

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Not sure if it's needed.

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

it's not quite d :) use the information and formulas i've given to you to work out the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH, i know it is c @butterflydreamer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know what i did wrong

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

hang on xD Let's do it slowly :) Firstly let's find the area of the parallelogram = base * height. We know base = 17, height = 6 SO area of the parallelogram = ? Then let's find the area of the triangle = 1/2 * base * height Base = 17, height = 8 SO area of the triangle = ? Then add the two together :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks Zara!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

17 x 6 = 102

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

yep :)

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

and then the area of the triangle would be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

136

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does the 1/2 mean that I have to divide it by 2

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if so, then that would be 68

OpenStudy (anonymous):

170

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

yaaass! :D So now we add the two together! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GOT IT< THANK YOU U R THE BEST

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

Fantasticccc ^_^!
