More questions, A little help would be nice Determine the sum of the given probabilities. Are the events complementary? P(A) = 3/7 ; P(B) = 2/7 A. 5/14 The events are complementary. B. 5/14 The events are not complementary. C. 5/7 The events are complementary. D. 5/7 The events are not complementary. I'm really unsure of what the answer is and I don't have any guess so could someone help me?

First part: "Determine the sum of the given probabilities" so you just add 2/7 and 3/7 to get ???

5/7 and It's not complementary, right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct on both 2/7 + 3/7 = 5/7 and this is NOT equal to 1 complementary events always add to 1. This is like saying "either event A or event B happens. No other outcome is possible" but the fact that 5/7 isn't 1, there's this leftover bit that leaves room for some other event C

Thank you!
