Inverse Trig Question :) For the function y = tan^-1 (tan x) (a) write down its domain and range (b) Sketch its graph

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

i know that for y = tan^-1 (x) Domain : All real x Range : -pi/2 < y < pi/2 buuuut yeah LOL

OpenStudy (dan815):

right, first you know y=arctan(tan(x)) = x

OpenStudy (dan815):

we can say there is a discontinuity at pi/2 and -pi/2 though

OpenStudy (dan815):

since tanx = sinx/cosx

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

yyaassss
