It's a really simple question I just want to know how come root2 + root2 = 2times root 2

Well if we replace "root 2" with "apples" or anything else it might make more sense to think that way.

1*apple + 1*apple = 2*apple

It's exactly the same concept except instead of apples we're adding square roots. =)
