sin(angle) = opposite/hypotenuse this is something you memorize. The SOH CAH TOA is a mnemonic device to help you remember SOH = sine opposite hypotenuse CAH = cosine adjacent hypotenuse TOA = tangent opposite adjacent

i personally only memorize sin, and let the others fall into place sin = opp/hyp cos is not sin so it has to be adj/hyp tan = sin/cos so it has to be opp/adj
