What is average ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In general?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it says What is the average of these four dollar amounts to the nearest cent

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

just add and divide by the number of items you have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's the central value, so if you have numbers such as 5, 6, 6, 7 you take them and divide by the amount of numbers there are. That will give you the average.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 5+6+6+7 }{ 4 } = 6\] average (central point)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Np :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mean is multiplying all the numbers and then divide?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mean is the same thing as average

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thx
