1. What is the measure of the central angle that represents the time spent on each activity? Round to the nearest tenth where necessary. a. sleep, b. food, c.work, d. errands, e. entertainment, f. other Sleep=31%, food=9%, work=20%, errands=7%, entertainment=18%, other=15% It says to multiply the percent or fraction that the category represents by 360. So for the first one, I did, and I got 11,160. This doesn't seem right and I feel as if Im doing something wrong? Help?!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

31% is the decimal number 0.31 anything as a percent is that number over 100 so, 31% = 31/100 = 0.31

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you multiply 0.31 by 360 to get 111.6 degrees

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so the central angle for sleep is 111.6 degrees

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the other central angles are found the same way

Ohhh I get it. So since it says to round up, you would put it as 112?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

"Round to the nearest tenth where necessary." 111.6 is already rounded to the nearest tenth, so no rounding is needed

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you had say 111.68, then it would round to 111.7

Ohh gotcha. Thank you so much!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
