confederates and union question?

OpenStudy (jessicawade):

what was the impact of the battles between the union and confederacy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the if im correct the confederates won correct me if im wrong bu they won and basically destroyed cities and towns

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, the Union won. It is also true (to BOTH sides) that they destroyed cities and towns. The impact of the battles would most likely be labeled as the loss of thousands of lives, private property, governmental moral, and unification among states. However, the gain would be the governmental victory for the Union. :) :) @jessicawade
