if the probability that A will be alive in 20 years is 0.7 and the probability that B will be alive in 20 years is 0.5. what is the probability that they both will be alive in 29 years?

OpenStudy (perl):

you can multiply probabilities $$ \Large P(A ~\&~B) = P(A) \cdot P(B) $$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok buth is it 0.7 *0.5?

OpenStudy (perl):

correct

OpenStudy (perl):

assuming A,B are independent

OpenStudy (perl):

thats a fair assumption because they are different people

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what is the answer? i.e probability that they both will live in 29 years?

OpenStudy (perl):

did you multiply them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. thanks .. have really missed you online. goodevening from here

OpenStudy (perl):

thanks :)
