A republic is a government run by? generals. kings and queens. representatives of the people. religious leaders.
A republic is a nation based on the social ideal that the people have the say. In America, the republic presently uses the democratic method we all know as an "approach" of that ideal. It is called "The great American experiment." To say the republic is limited by law is to suggest the people are under the control of the government rather than the other way around. It's representation is what is limited by law. And that representation is established through democratic voting. Democracy is government created from demographic samples of the opinions of the republic. The American republic was created by The Declaration of Independence, which declared an independent "public," or republic. The U.S. Constitution created the democracy.
A republic is a representative government limited by law.
