OpenStudy (jaybear97):
I have to find X and Y
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
@rational Can i have help please haha
OpenStudy (rational):
diagonals bisect each other :
AP = CP
BP = DP
OpenStudy (rational):
setup two equations based on that and solve x, y
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
3x = x +y and y = 6x - 40

OpenStudy (rational):
Yes.
solve x,y
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
would i subtract 1x from both sides and i have no idea for the 2d one
OpenStudy (rational):
we have two equations :
```
3x = x +y
y = 6x - 40
```
substitute the value of y from second equation into first equation :
3x = x + 6x - 40
solve x first
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
subtract 1x from 6x?
OpenStudy (rational):
3x = x + 6x - 40
On right hand side, combine like terms x and 6x :
3x = 7x - 40

OpenStudy (jaybear97):
subtract 7 from both sides then/
OpenStudy (rational):
do you mean "subtract 7x" ?
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
yeah
OpenStudy (rational):
looks good
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
so then -4x = 40

OpenStudy (rational):
-4x = -40
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
then divided -4
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
x = 10?
OpenStudy (rational):
Yes!
OpenStudy (rational):
see if you can find "y" using that

OpenStudy (jaybear97):
hmmm
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
3x = 10 + y?
OpenStudy (rational):
3*10 = 10 + y
OpenStudy (jaybear97):
30 = 10 = y subtract the 10 from both sides?
OpenStudy (rational):
30 = 10 + y
