OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

What is the area of a square, if you know the length of the side?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

area of a rectangle is \[A = l*w\]right? A square is just a rectangle where \(l=w\) so the area of the square is \[a=l*w = w*w = w^2\] The means our area can be turned into the side length of the square, if we can just figure out what expression when multiplied by itself gives \(169x^2y^4\). Once we have the side length, we can find the perimeter of the square by multiplying the side length by the number of sides (as they are all equal, by definition).
