Why is it necessary to be able to replicate the results of a scientific experiment?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

If you can't replicate the results of an experiment, it's likely that the results occurred by accident or they are an artifact from the set-up. The strength in science is the ability to predict the outcome of a experiment, without that ability it can't be science.
