To answer capitalization questions it's important to remember Proper Nouns and Common Nouns. Names and places are your main proper nouns, along with days, months, and titles. Common nouns are just that- common. So things like things and direction wouldn't be capitalized.
Don't be intimidated by the fact it's long and looks important, northeast is still just a direction. Like would you ever capitalize the word 'left' in "Go Left at the stoplight?" No. It's just a direction.
