Why might mark twain have written about lower class citizens in his satires

Satires are pieces of writing that may seem humererous but go into detail about the ridiculousness of a subject. If you read A MODEST PROPOSAl Swift uses the horrible issue of a famine along with the idea of eatin babies to supply a bigger issue (yes its gross I know sorry)
Twain was a humerous, however, he wrote many pieces that featured the oppression of men and woman and of course lower class. His satires may be funny and humerous but all in all it shows how horrible and ridiculous it is to have prejudice against a person.
