The plane through the point (−1, 4, 2) that contains the line of intersection of the planes 4x−y+z−2 = 0 and 2x + y − 2z − 3 = 0.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

find the line of intersection ....... cross the normals and attach it to a common point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does crossing the normals give me?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it gives you the vector for the line of intersection

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i found the line , how do i get the plane equation ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you need 2 vectors, one of them is the line vector, the other is a vector from a point in the line to the given point. cross those vectors and you get the normal to the plane you need

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now i get it thanks a lot

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
