1. The federalist party was the first political party in the United States. The federalists controlled the government until 1801, when it was replaced by distinct parties. 2. George Washington was a surveyor in the Ohio Valley, as well as an officer under British command in the French and Indian War. Both of these circumstances helped him lead in that he knew how to act both under pressure, and against people he served under. That is why he was so successful in the Revolution. 3. He set precedents that included, uniting the colonies, developing a good government for future generations, and an economic system that would last.
