Thomas bikes at a rate of 24 mi in 3 h. Thomas’s friend De’Monte bikes 9.5 mi each hour. De’Monte and Thomas are 105 mi apart and are biking towards each other. How long will the boys bike before they meet? How many miles will each boy have biked when they meet?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Distance = rate x time Thomas: 24 miles in 3h rate = 24/3 = ? mph De'Monte: rate: 9.5 mph Since they are traveling towards each other... T = thomas D = de'monte \(\Large D_T+D_D = Total\ distance\) Plug in and solve.

I haven't done these problems in a while. Does this look okay? @iGreen
