well the vertex from requires you to complete the square in x... so it starts with \[y = (6x^2 - 42x) + 5\] the vertex from is \[y = a(x - h)^2 + k\] so you want to convert \[6x^2 - 42x \] into a perfect square in the form above... find the common factor... of the 1st 2 terms
