How do I factor this 2x^2 + 11x + 8 + 7 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I know the first step butI always get stuck on factoring :(

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well here is a method... simplify the equation to \[2x^2 + 11x + 15 = 0\] now its in the form \[ax^2 + bx + c = 0\] so multiply the a and c values in your question its a = 2 and c = 15 find the factors of the answer that add to b or in your question 11... hope that makes sense... its just he 1st bit

OpenStudy (onepieceftw):

The two factors when added will equal 11 and when multiplied will equal 30 (a*c)
