OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Help!!! Read this excerpt from the novel. I liked the hush, the gloom, the quaintness of these retreats in the day; but I by no means coveted a night's repose on one of those wide and heavy beds: shut in, some of them, with doors of oak; shaded, others, with wrought English old hangings crusted with thick work, portraying effigies of strange flowers, and stranger birds, and strangest human beings, —all which would have looked strange, indeed, by the pallid gleam of moonlight. Which word best describes the mood of this excerpt? A. eerie B. somber <--? C. welcoming D. nostalgic

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Well this excerpt is coming off as more creepy than somber. Which word would be more synonymous with "creepy?"

OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Umm.. probably A?

OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Someone said D, but I'm not too sure about that one..

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Nah, you're right. It's A. :D

OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Okay, thanks a ton Kyan! ;u;

OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Do you think you could help me with just ONE more..? @KyanTheDoodle then I'll be out of your hair for good. XD

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Lol. Sure.

OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Read the excerpt, and then answer the question. What my sensations were, no language can describe; but, just as they all rose, stifling my breath and constricting my throat, a girl came up and passed me: in passing, she lifted her eyes. What a strange light inspired them! What an extraordinary sensation that ray sent through me! How the new feeling bore me up! It was as if a martyr, a hero, had passed a slave or victim, and imparted strength in the transit. Which word does not contribute to the excerpt's liberating mood? A. extraordinary B. stifling C. inspired D. lifted <---? (Sorry if I get this one wrong >,< it's a little confusing for me.)

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

I think you're right.

OpenStudy (jokersmart):

Awesome, thanks so much for everything :'D
