If the length of one leg of a right triangle is 16 and the length of the other leg is odd, what are the lengths of all the sides of the triangle?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

i'd look at the Pythagorean triples and multiples thereof - there is one that matches perfectly. listed here amongst other places: http://www.mathsisfun.com/pythagorean_triples.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it given in the link, the pythagorian triplet - 16,63,65. 63-odd no.

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

i would say so! i initially thought scaling up a 3,4,5 but draw the same conclusion as you do.
