OpenStudy (narissa):

can someone help me

OpenStudy (matt101):

What's your question?

OpenStudy (narissa):

OpenStudy (narissa):

@hazalgumusgul

OpenStudy (matt101):

When we're talking about the x-intercept, the y-value is 0. That means you can sub 0 for y in your equation, and solving for x will give you your answer!

OpenStudy (narissa):

so its -5@matt101

OpenStudy (narissa):

@hazalgumusgul

OpenStudy (narissa):

-15 divided by 1/3 =-5

OpenStudy (matt101):

Not quite - just do it step by step: \[{1 \over 3}x+y=-15\]\[{1 \over 3}x+0=-15\]\[{1 \over 3}x=-15\]\[{1 \over 3}x \times 3=-15 \times 3\]\[x=-45\] Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (narissa):

kinda its hard

OpenStudy (matt101):

-15 divided by 1/3 is the same as saying -15 times 3! Remember, when you divide by a fraction, it's the same as multiplying by the reciprocal.

OpenStudy (matt101):

What part don't you understand?

OpenStudy (narissa):

ohhh i forgot thamks

OpenStudy (matt101):

No problem!
