I neeed help with this question? What is the y-intercept of the line? http://static.k12.com/bank_packages/files/media/mathml_0cf462303848b244f3d9721e8e4a74d535c6e5d0_1.gif y-intercept =

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

in y = mx + b form, the y intercept is the number in the b position. y = mx + b y = -7x + 1.....now what number is in the b position ??

One is in the B Position, But I still dont Understand this? Can you explain it more?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

the y intercept is where the line crosses the y axis....also, the answer would be (0,1) because your points are set up like (x,y). Now if you were asked to find the x intercept (where the line cross the x axis) you would take your equation and sub in 0 for y y = -7x + 1 0 = -7x + 1 7x = 1 x = 1/7......so you x intercept (put into a decimal) would be (0.14,0) does that help any ?

Yes I understand it now, Thank you!
