Why are mods being jerks? They are banning people for role playing (nothing out of the OS CoC), they are banning for saying noob, mocking, saying LMAO, etc. Whats their problem?
Where are you doing this?
Maybe you're in the wrong subject.
You should do it in a chat or something.
This IS a study site..maybe you should take it outside of OS.
Well mods are here to help us not ban us. They are just simply doing there job and there might be a reason for the ban. MODS DONT BAN FOR NO REASON. :D
No ._. I want to know whats going on. I keep getting banned and warning for stupid things.
Maybe you did something wrong @Captain_America_Army did you think about that?
mods are nice if you nice to them
I fully agree. I have had an account BANNED,(which was later lifted), because I asked someone to help me.
thats
a
Here read our code of conduct. Finally, if you do make a mistake, please be respectful to the moderators. Moderators are the users whose names are in purple. If you go outside the code of conduct, one of them will likely contact you. If they do, listen to what they have to say and be polite. If you are issued a temporary suspension because of a Code of Conduct violation, just wait until your suspension is expired. Go read a book, throw a football, unwind, and come back when the suspension is over. If you create new accounts to bypass a suspension, you will be permanently banned from the site. No questions asked. If you are permanently banned, or you feel you did not deserve a suspension that you were issued, feel free to email abuse@openstudy.com to discuss your suspension with one of the OpenStudy team members.
@jagr2713 =.= this is what my suspension said "you were suspended for Role Playing this is a type of spam please refer to the CoC.
powerhunger mod
there is one mod who looks through messages that you may not remember saying a while back
Yep you cannot spam its against our CoC
and he/she will ban you for it
@jagr2713 BUT role playing isn't spamming
Don't spam! Common forms of spam include: Posting a question multiple times within a short period of time. Posting a question that is off topic for a particular group (i.e. posting a physics question in the Mathematics group). Posting a reply that is not relevant to the topic of discussion within that question. Posting questions that are not, in fact, questions (for example, starting a question in the Mathematics group to wish someone "Happy Birthday"). Sending the same chat message repeatedly. Filing false abuse reports on a user repeatedly.
I have gotten COUNTLESS warnings, all for no reason. I said the word "mod" and I got a warning, saying that I should keep what mods do out of chats, when I was talking about MINECRAFT
major part of openstudy is to study and learn but there is also a part of openstudy where you can socialize and make friends, roleplaying helps strengthen those friendships and make new ones
^
@jagr2713 ._. those are all for posts like this one but the only one for chat is "sending the same chat message repeatedly" and its not repeatedly
REOLEPALY IS FUN AND HELPS US XD
they are all annoying
well in the Coc i just sent it says and i quote "Posting a question multiple times within a short period of time."
MAybe to you but others like it ._. we get banned for stupid reason like that, and the CoC doesn't even enforce the reason.
ROLEPLAYING IS NOT SAYING THE SAME THING MULTIPLE TIMES
^
Well rules are rules you agreed to it remember Besides the pledge, we also have some specific guidelines on what not to do, outlined below. Failure to follow the guidelines may lead to your suspension or banning from the site. If you see any violations, please report them by using a report abuse link.
the guidelines say nothing about roleplaying
@jagr2713 Yes rules are rules BUT IT DOESNT EVEN SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!
^
Oh hi there @just_one_last_goodbye
Did you know that you can't evade suspensions?
the reporting system is flawed as well, i've gotten community suspensions from a person who has a grudge on me for an unknown reason
If you feel you did not deserve a suspension that you were issued, feel free to email abuse@openstudy.com to discuss your suspension with one of the OpenStudy team members. @Captain_America_Army
If you can find a part of the CURRENT CoC that specifically outlaws RolePlaying, I will leave OS forever. THAT is how confident I am.
@jagr2713 she's talking about roleplaying in the chats not posting a question multiple times as a way of roleplaying
@jagr2713 they dont reply on that email at all
@Zyi6 Also remember they don't have to have a written reason to outlaw it. The admins words are law. And the CoC is a minor thing. You agreed the the Terms and Conditions when you signed up.
Same thing Spamming in questions or chat will result in the same thing
Oh sorry I didn't read that @TheSmartOne let me log off so i dont get in deeper trouble keep the convo up guys DONT LET THESE PEOPLE WIN!!! they have no support or reason
lol
@AlexandervonHumboldt2 YES the same thing happened to me it just a bunch of humbo jumbo
.
PEACE IM OUT
If you feel you did not deserve a suspension that you were issued, feel free to email abuse@openstudy.com to discuss your suspension with one of the OpenStudy team members. @Captain_America_Army If there is any other question you might want to ask, feel free but if not please close this and lets go help people. :D
If what the admins say is law, can someone explain why 2 MODS have said role playing is fine, while others havn't?
but @jagr2713 it isn't spam it's just people replying to others in their fantasies in unoccupied chats
Moderators have their own standards of what is allowed and what isn't. Some are against one thing more strongly than others.
tkhunny is against almost everything
yeah i did reciaved an undeserved sus from him
Who is right? A mod, or another mod. If what they say is law, then there is NO LAW. If one law contradicts another, then we cannot have an effective system.
Riddle me that.
Keep in mind that OpenStudy is an open, transparent system where everyone can see all your posts, chats, comments, questions and answers. So OpenStudy documents your greatness and your helpfulness. If on the other hand you do not follow our code or post inappropriate content that is creepy, rude, or violates your school's Honor Code, it is also openly viewable. We care about you. So our advice is to be nice and honest.
most likely i'll get suspended for saying these things against him/her XD
Moderators and admins. There is a difference between them.
^
they all look purple to me
Admins have the ban button. Moderators don't. So since you don't know who is who. Be careful.
lol @TheSmartOne
what about the suspension button or are those the same thing?
They could be here right now
No suspension is with the mods
Ban means a suspension for forever. Suspension is a timed thing.
http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct <---go review the rules and note how many you break
like i said, some mods are suspension crazy
Well they are doing there jobs to keep this site perfect :D @hysusonic
All the moderators are nice, until you break the rules.
Then feel free to call mods jerks if they have suspended you for no reason WHICH im sure the have NOT
If so, why do i get banned EVERY OTHER WEEK?!?!?!??! This account has had 7 BANS ON IT. ALL of which were later lifted. If people are against role playing, then just say so. I do not need to be banned just because I might have given a direct answer, or said an inappropriate word. That is what WARNINGS are for. The ban button is overused, and that should be addressed, and SOON.
But go review first make sure to take note
@Zyi6 then thats a sign that you need to stop what you're doing :D
nkidrah we can click on link we are not didiots. dont post it here takes too much place
every time i get suspended, i go and read the rules and look for which one i broke but usually they are community suspensions from people reporting me for no good reason
LOL some people dont know what the CoC looks like
And im sure they werent gonna click that link :P
@Zyi6 What you have experienced is the suspension. Bans are rarely used. (Thank goodness)
there is always HIDDEN rules.. MWAHAHAH
No there are no hidden rules
No, i have gotten the message that said i was banned.
If you were banned you wouldnt be here
with that logic @jagr2713 ,i'll be banned for not knowing those hidden rules
lol it was a joke lol
The admins all discuss to each other before they ban. And if they do, they might give you a second chance, and tell you to make a new account.
lol i know XD
The bans were lifted by the admins because I got emails from them.
Yeah atleast they let you back in out of generosity right? so they arent jerks now are they? :)
And there is a huge difference between BANS and SUSPENSIONS. They rarely give out BANS. SUSPENSIONS are given out daily. And they only give suspensions if you keep breaking the rule regardless of all the warnings you were given.
Well everyone is diffrent :)
If you were given a SUSPENSION then thats not a big deal, just DONT do it again but if you were BANNED then that means you need to take a while and see what you did wrong and fix it.
There is no point of this convo
What one mod may see to be bad the other one might see that as nothing
You think that the CoC has all the rules. BUT when you signed up, you agreed to the Terms and Conditions. ( http://www.openstudy.com/terms-and-conditions ) And in the TaC, it says that you also have to follow the CoC.
