Find the common ratio of the sequence. –164, –82, –41, –20.5, . . . 82 –82 1/2 2

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Hello @helpwithmathplzz ! Welcome to Openstudy! Do find the common ratio, take second number and divide it by the first number. Then take the third number and divide it by the second number to make sure. What you get both times is the answer.

Divide one number by the one that goes before it. -82/-164 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.5

OHHHH it 1/2 right?

Nnesha (nnesha):

yep that's right formula to find common ratio is \[\huge\rm r=\frac{ a_2 }{ a_1 }\] or \[\huge\rm r = \frac{ a_4 }{ a_3 }\] a_2 2nd term a_1 first term so divide next term by previous one so 1/2 is right :)
