Chemistry question! Sum of the two covalent radii should equal the covalent bond length between two atoms. Draw it, and show the covalent radius and covalent bond length. Can covalent bond be applied to all the elements or only Diatomic elements?

@jagr2713 and @aaronq I would appreciate you guys if you can help me after you are done.

OpenStudy (korosh23):

And can this be applied to all elements or only diatomic elements?

OpenStudy (korosh23):

I believe this measurement can only be done on elements that exist in pure form as molecules such as chlorine

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i dont see why it can't be applied to any covalent compound

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it shouldn't matter, except if you do molecules like HCl, then you'll have two different radii

OpenStudy (korosh23):

Ok thank you very much for your information.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no problem!
