Is the function of f(x) = |sin(x)| even, odd, or neither?

OpenStudy (millsemily):

Even :)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

To test whether its even or odd, test:\[f(-x)=-f(x)\] or.. \[f(-x)=f(x)\]

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

If you put in a negative x-value and you get an even answer, then your function is even.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ f(-x)=|\sin(-x)| = |-\sin(x)| = |\sin(x)| =f(x) \]We know \(\sin(-x)=-\sin(x)\) from the unit circle. Negative angles just have you rotate clockwise under the \(x\) axis by the same height.
