Depends on the problem,. what you understand about it, where you make mistakes, etc. If you know the math involved and get the topic, it can take minutes to write a program to meet those needs. On the other hand, if you do not get the math then it can take learning a lot of sub topics just to grasp the problem properly and only afte that cna you devise a solution.
