SUGGESTION: Create a section for student athletes?
Or a section where people can discuss problems like time management?
That student athletes need (alot)
im an athlete myself :P time management i think would be in academic advice what would u plan on putting in the athlete section?
There is a section for academic advice?
If not, that is a better name for the section. Discuss college choices, time management, etc etc
there is a subject for that i would link it but its not loading
or especially for stress, and problems like anxiety. I'm sure a fairly good percentage of us go through problems like this. Sometimes, I think a few words of encouragement will help someone go through their day...
Ooh, link me to that when you can :)
Thats what chats are for :P and im trying
yeah, but I feel like chats are very overlooked and people are just fooling around xD
instead of a on point discussion
Eh deends what chat u go to ;) and acedemic advice wont load >:(
I completely agree! Being a student athlete that struggles with time management, this would be very helpful for me, and probably many others. The academic advice section is dead, nobody knows about it, but I think that if there were a specific section for this, it would be active.
I mean i like that idea b.c i play basketball but what will we talk about except like sports and basketball and it really kills the educational purpose of this site.
You wouldn't really be able to talk about the sport itself without spamming
^ True, like, "when's the next match!" :P
It would be all advice, something that actually has a purpose
i like this idea :)
acedemic advice is only for school not atheltics
i mean at least for me, stress is just as big of a problem as my homework/etc
i would think athletics ends up being part of academic advice..
^ Same
I'm just concerned about a possible spamming issue.
what kind of questions would you consider spam?
i think as long as it can ask for advice, something important, it's not really spam
personally, i think all relationship questions would not be allowed xD
I suggested a career section a few months ago.
Like some users would put random posts like, "how do i get to harvard!"
Well, I still like your idea.
Believe me, even in os feedback, some users post questions like that and "how do i get a A in a class". I've seen it several times.
yeah, I guess your right. but i think questions like "what should I major in?" vs "what should I wear to school tomorrow" would be fairly easy to tell
True, good point. ^_^ Well I wouldn't ask questions that could end up being life-changing, those are better off with personal peers and family.
But many people are "new" to the college area and they need advice.
True, the majority of people using os are in middle and high school. However they go on with life and go to college and I don't see those users around that I've heard about.
In my highschool, we actually had to pick majors, from a list of around 20 ish choices. I certainly wouldn't have mind asking for opinions..
@EclipsedStar I agree with the life-changing problems...but I think it's alright to guide them to the "right" path.
Yes, but I wouldn't want to ask opinions from someone younger or the same age as me, I would consult an adult that has experience.
If someone asked "should I drop out..", well I think it's obvious what to say..
Btw, off topic, did they just obliterate the math section...?
No o.O
What do you mean by that? @dtan5457
I can't get to it on my subject list, and it's gone from my medal count..
You have to study that section for it to appear.
Lol, right, I got it back, thank you
No problem. :)
What an excellent idea! I think there are a lot of athletes here. :) Obviously tennis over here. :P
Gymnastics for life <3
I agree as well. Especially being involved with soccer, basketball, music playing, college, work and church services and plus on top of that work around home and plus your own life with friends and etc. This totally explains me.
Great suggesstion! :)
ty
I think this has been brought up before, but I don't think athletics and academia really mix that well
I mean, when you look at how much the music group is abused, you can only wonder what it would be like with an athletics group.
@poopsiedoodle That's so true. Music chat, always if not most times, is inappropriate and is usually turned into roleplay.
