The length of a rectangle is 45 in and is dilated to 15 in. What is the scale factor? Answers: 1/3 3 -3 -1/3

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

Dilations are basically transformations that produces an image that is larger or smaller than the original image (Note: the images will have the same shape) .. Since the original is 45 and it is DILATED to 15 inch. This means that it has shrunken right? So what do you multiply 45 by to get 15? So 45 times x = 15 What is x? (x = scale factor)
