Jeannie is 8 years older than her younger sister April. When added together, their ages equal 198. How old is April? A. 27 B. 35 C. 95 D. 103

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jigglypuff314 could you help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What plus 8 = 198?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

190

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could subtract 198-8 and get the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct. That is your answer. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BUT for some reason that answer is not up on the board.....

OpenStudy (unanimoose):

Um.

OpenStudy (unanimoose):

"Jeannie is 8 years older than her younger sister April."

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Of course! :) Let's make some variables first make "Jeannie" be represented by J and "April" be represented by A then making words into math talk "is" means "equals" -> "=" "older than" -> "+" so in the First Sentence we can get J = 8 + A

I know what I did wrong lol. The pixels on my screen sometimes get mixed up.
