mmediately following World War I, the United States experienced an economic recession. This was in part caused by the transition from wartime economy to peacetime economy. The U.S. had manufactured war supplies and also during the war Many U.S. producers continued making goods at the wartime levels, even though demand had decreased sharply. As a result, the market became flooded with goods and prices went down. This caused many in the U.S. to lose a great deal of money. Another problem following the war concerned the veterans who were returning home and were not finding jobs.
