\(\sf \huge \color {#F08080} {Gotta~ take~ action!}\) Let's stop 'the cheating' together! Seriously, it gotta be stopped. I will start reporting people that give direct answers. Starting smartscore of 55 or 60 (or spent reasonable amount of days to know how OS works) , because by that time I'll assume they will be aware of all the rules of OS. I consider the person that gives direct answers to be the one at fault. Because they are not 'helping' to learn, but are 'helping' to cheat. Cheating people are ready to take any answer as long as someone gives it, which I don't really get why. I wonder if they do think that the answer they get might be wrong, and if there is such a possibility, what is the point of cheating then? Well, I hope they come to realize it soon as it won’t benefit them in future for sure. Now What I consider to be direct answer? - Gives the option ‘they assume to be correct’ Guys, if you wish to help: Ask the questioner: - What is unclear about the question? - What do they know about the stuff mentioned in the question - Do not accept ‘im not sure’ response. Please, to be not sure, you have to have some idea at least -_- so ask them to tell you what is it that they are not sure about Now help part - Try explaining by giving examples, best example is the simplest example you can make up to fit the conditions of the question :3 - If you are unable to make the issue clear to the questioner, but you do know the question and answer yourself, I encourage you to give link to a source that would provide info about question and possible answers that would benefit questioner - If the question is calculation type (chem for example), give the instructions on how the problem is to be solved and what should be considered. ***Please, let them work it out. By making them actually work it out, you will make sure they do understand and will be able to use same procedure/ technique/ instruction to work out similar question - If the question is ‘mcq’ type with options that are terms, please ask the questioner to define each term and show it to you. This way will see if they are putting effort to learn. And then, you can relate the definitions to the question thereby leading to the correct answer *** It’s a good way to make them do something, in fact when you make them do it, they figure out the answer themselves once they find the definition on their own lol - Last but not least. I’ve seen users explain the answers, in good details. I would say give excellent explanation AND…..at the end give the correct option that relate to their explanation… ***Please, let them choose the option after your explanation. This way you will see if they understood your explanation or not. If they just randomly choose option, like: is it A?, then B? C? D? – that just means they don’t even want to understand =_= I wouldn’t waste my time on this. Yup That’s about it =3= Im pretty sure everyone knows about all the stuff I mentioned here, but now let’s do something about it! If we are able to stop direct answers, we will be able to stop cheating! I can’t stand seeing kids have brains but not use them and make you wonder what is there in their skull ~_~ Let’s save those brains! LOL or so :D

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

Yes! Lets take action :D i agree! :)

OpenStudy (somy):

-_- my effort to write all this why on earth app didn;t post the entire thing +________+

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

comment something i wanna medal you

OpenStudy (igreen):

@Somy Post it in a comment.

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

yeah for sure

OpenStudy (igreen):

Or edit it

OpenStudy (igreen):

@Somy I see like 50 direct answers a day..

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

i was 20 yestarday

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

sometimes 50 ss users give moredireect anser that 10ss users.

OpenStudy (igreen):

@AlexandervonHumboldt2 If 10 SS users give direct answers they would be around 50..

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

well sometiems 10ss users say to 50 ss users that direct ansers are illegal and they sonetimes follow rules better.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

The users that accept direct answers are equally guilty.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, they are^

OpenStudy (somy):

oh waw i didn't think i wrote this much lol

OpenStudy (somy):

@AlexandervonHumboldt2 those are new users, so just kindly inform them about the rules that are to be followed. :)

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

It was so long that the share buttons disappeared xD http://prntscr.com/6qfkvd

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

You made a lot of points. All users should read this! :D

OpenStudy (somy):

lol i hope it can get through people :D

OpenStudy (igreen):

What I consider to be direct answer? I would expand more on this.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Usually, I just report people who keep doing it after you warn them..it could be that they hadn't been told that yet, even if they are around 50 SS. @Somy

OpenStudy (somy):

I know, thus i said 'or if they spent reasonable amount of days on here' to know about this rule

OpenStudy (somy):

what would you add to it? I'll added it there

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yes..you are also aware that we have to guide the asker to the question right? Participation of the asker is required before the answer is given out.

OpenStudy (igreen):

If you just give the answer with an explanation, the asker can just take the answer and not look at your explanation.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Getting the asker to participate might not be fool proof, but it's definitely better than just giving the answer out.

OpenStudy (somy):

actually i said dont give the answer i said explain thats it let the question er figure out the answer

OpenStudy (somy):

+ i also said make the questioner do something - which means they gotta participate in this and cooperate with you

OpenStudy (igreen):

Okay, just making sure..lol. I didn't read it all..TL;DR

OpenStudy (somy):

awch @iGreen how could uuuu -heartbreak- lol

OpenStudy (igreen):

xD

OpenStudy (igreen):

I'll read it all starting now :P

OpenStudy (somy):

awww thats nice of you :DDD

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I 100% agree with you.

OpenStudy (igreen):

Totally agree..people are getting dumber as the generations go by.

OpenStudy (somy):

Indeed. Thats sad, since as a university student i get to go through hell of studying, and if they start of with playing around and cheating (meaning during their last school years at least) - they will suffer a lot during university time :(

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Like for me to avoid them talking about it and getting mad, all i do is report them saying they gaved a direct answer or something and just leave it to the mods

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

please dont spam every post @TheLegendaryTroll

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I don't want to stop.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@jagr2713 ikr ;-;

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i agree, and legend ... dont troll!!

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Very, very well written! I totally agree, and I do this anyways, about the not reporting the user at 55 SS for something they did wrong. Instead you should always tell them what they did wrong. Reporting them, and nagging at them WILL make them feel unwelcomed to OpenStudy. I have seen users get mad at new users for breaking the CoC, and the new user is so confused and unwelcomed.

sammixboo (sammixboo):

The steps you wrote are very clear, and VERY helpful for everybody :) Everytime I see a new user, or any user, I will send them to this post.

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah, again thats why i said 'spent reasonable amount of days' since smartscore in the beginning tends to go up pretty fast :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I like what you wrote :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha i originally signed up so i could cheat but theres always gunna be people on here that give direct answers and theres always gunna be people on here that try to teach you cant stop it you can only slow it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's true

OpenStudy (somy):

Indeed, stopping is hard, but we can decrease it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea only decrease but i mean why tho sure its bad but theres those of us who dont mind and those that dont (dont make this an argument just say why)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean if someone wants direct then let them get them from someone else dont freak out on them and resort to reporting and calling out the coc

OpenStudy (somy):

I don't like to see cheating. And this website was not meant to be for cheating. Also, cheating is not way out. It won't help you achieve anything in future. There will always be someone that wants to cheat there will always be someone that would just give a direct answer but whats the benefit? all i see as a result is 'brainless' kids. They have brain, but don't use it the right way. In today's world, its very important to get a good education. We, can teach these kids, can at least try to stop them from turning their brain into a garbage. I know people here that started here, with cheating, but now, they are against cheating and don't cheat anymore. Thats what i want, I want more of these people here. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This was very well written, and all very true. Also, @mathsciencehistory first, if someone asks a question and only wants the answer, that is clearly against the Code of Conduct. Secondly, I have experienced lots of users (when I'm explaining to them how to get the answer) who just want the answer and don't want to learn. The result in people like this are going to have a terrible future and won't be educated.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but my point is why are you worried about their future if they wanna throw it away on something as simple as not learning what your trying to teach them let them its not any ofd our places to force them to be taught

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or to tell them how they are wrong in their opinions for not wanting to learn it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would you like it if someone lived a horrible life and was not educated? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont care i take care of myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

their horrible life is not my problem and its no ones but theirs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg here it comes

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

@mathsciencehistory rules are placed for a reason.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

what? I was lagging

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not even talking about rules i believe in ur rules because its not my site to not believe in them i wont follow them

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @mathsciencehistory ok but my point is why are you worried about their future if they wanna throw it away on something as simple as not learning what your trying to teach them let them its not any ofd our places to force them to be taught \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) No one is forcing them to follow the rules, it's a choice for people to make. However, if it isn't followed, then the people that oversee the rules will take action.

OpenStudy (somy):

If everyone didn't care, this website wouldn't come to being noone would teach noone would get help fyi, i dont get paid to teach here, even if i teach people that wish to learn.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just dont believe in some of yalls reasoning

OpenStudy (somy):

Its a choice Its just us wanting to help if you don't care, thats your thing :) We care, thus we are against cheating.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not saying dont care about the rules by all means enforce away. but why do u care about strangers well being

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you fell your changing the world for better if only one lesson at a time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean what the sustantiality of the reasoning behind why yall caree

OpenStudy (somy):

Who said i care about the rules? Its not rules of OS for me its my LIFE rules

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

We abide by the rules given and enforce it. Now I'm curious: Why do \(you\) care that we care about others?

OpenStudy (somy):

I am against cheating not just here and i care i care about people here doing the wrong thing that will have an impact on their future life since i know i grew to know how hard it gets thus i dont wish them to go through same thing as i did i want them to wake up as early as they can, and realize that they need to work hard if they wish to enjoy life later on and not suffer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you got me there it more from when people actually care what i do or did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it seems both of you are different on this because one said its her life rules and you said its about OS rules which i dont actually care about

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well if you go to a site where the majority of people abide from the rules, and you don't follow the rules, you \(are\) going to attract attention, no matter what.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh well @Somy i get ya but not to worry i do fine in school and even if i didnt my first job is $200 an hour

OpenStudy (somy):

@mathsciencehistory Think of what do you have governmental laws for? school rules for? work rules for? and for people like me, life rules for?

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

As for me going by os rules and Somy going by what she believes in life, we both have a similarity. We want the best for others in os. It's a different viewpoint but the same goal.

OpenStudy (somy):

thats good :) @mathsciencehistory aim higher though :) but requires a years of hard work :D and DON'T GIVE UP :) another rule of my life :]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get you i understand rules my mom tells me allll the time -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same goals but are you forcing it on others

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Again, we aren't "forcing". We are just repeating the rules to people that already know it but choose to not follow it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok all im really saying is why so strict uk let the ones who want a direct answer for whatever their working on have em leave them be and teach the ones who arent

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Rules apply to \(all\) of os. When you signed up, you \(agreed\) to the CoC and TaC. http://prntscr.com/6r8rb8

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

If you agreed but don't follow it anyways, mods have every right to take action.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so its my job not to get caught then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

even tho i practically tell on myself

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I don't see why you want to break rules. I like freedom too, but rules are made for the good of everyone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i greens just watching this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont want to i just do because i dont really want to restrain myself or feel like im actually changing my actions because of someone else

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ive always had really bad authority problems my mom fought me plenty of times

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Ok, do as you wish, but don't blame it on the rule-followers when you get reported.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

punishment has never worked on me i just leave or go against

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wish tk was here kinda i want his opinion on this even if i get suspended ...again

OpenStudy (somy):

@mathsciencehistory you see, sometimes, changing for someone else, is the reason to why we survive :) When you grow up and get to have a family You change because of your wife then you change again this time because of your born child then you change again because this child has grown up enough so now you can talk to him/her as you talk to an adult, and put him/her on same level as yours then you change again this time, when you get to have mini versions of your children, grandchildren :) Its good that we change :) OS are just tiny issues, if you can't follow tiny rules, will you be able to follow huge and harsh aaaand rules with huge responsibility?
