OpenStudy (surana):

Find the maximum or minimum of the following quadratic function: y= X^2-16

OpenStudy (surana):

^2 representing exponent 2 and the answers are A: -16 B: 16 C: 32 D: 48

OpenStudy (surana):

I think it's -16, if they're looking for the vertex.

OpenStudy (surana):

If not, then I still need to keep looking.

OpenStudy (surana):

What's the derivative?

OpenStudy (surana):

So I put the numbers into the A and X spot, right?

OpenStudy (trojanpoem):

Don't worry, It's -16

OpenStudy (surana):

Oh thank gosh, I came up with that earlier, I was thinking this was about to get much more complex.

OpenStudy (surana):

So -16 is the answer?

OpenStudy (trojanpoem):

At first, I thought you are studying maxima and minima. here is the graph plotted , https://mathway.com/ you can notice clearly that "-16" is a minimum point.
