How to graph this RATIONAL FUNCTION WITHOUT calculator? 1) (10)/(x^2+2) PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME LINKS TO THE GRAPHING OF IT!!! here is the following information that i collected on my own... holes: none zeros: none va: none nva: y=0 y-int: (0,5) crosses NVA: none How do i know the shape of the graph? like how do i use the multiplicity to determine the shape instead of plugging numbers in?

here is what i got so far... how do i find out the other part of the function??

@freckles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do not understand the multiplicity of this function because the denominator does not give a real number VA

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you need to consider negative values of x as well as positive

OpenStudy (welshfella):

because the function contains x^2 it will be symetrical about the y axis

OpenStudy (welshfella):

how will the graph look at very high and very low values of x? Can the function ever be negative?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

(0,5) is the maximum value - that is correct this occures when x = 0 and the function = 10/2

OpenStudy (welshfella):

you are exactly half right so far....

OpenStudy (welshfella):

noe that when x = 1 or x = -1 the value of the function is the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will multiplicity help me out here though? @welshfella cause that's what i want to do.. but i guess i can plug in points to graph instead.
