A teacher promised a movie day to the class that did better, on average, on their test. The box plot shows the results of the test: box plot labeled 2nd period with min at 77, Q1 at 78, median at 89, Q3 at 92, max at 100. Box plot labeled 4th period with min at 72, Q1 at 82.5, median at 89, Q3 at 96, max at 97.5 Which class should get the reward, and why? The 2nd period class should get the reward. They have the highest score, a perfect 100. The 2nd period class should get the reward. They have a higher median. The 4th period class should get the reward. Though the medians are the same, the first and third quartiles are higher, so the students did better on average than in the 2nd period class. The 4th period class should get the reward. Their lowest score is an outlier, and should be thrown out.

OpenStudy (greencat):

B is wrong because the medians are the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (greencat):

A does not use average. so wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (greencat):

so if i use my reasoning on A with D, i can deduce that it is also wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (greencat):
