When I was younger, I remember hearing my grandparents talking about the past issues between the United States and Russia. My Parents had to do fallout drill in school. Sorry I cant be of more help.

Living in Florida, the best story I know is from the Cuban Missile crisis. During the crisis, in Florida, people were afraid to be outside because of pending nuclear attack. Most people were afraid of Hispanic people. Ummmm. Thats all I remember
