hi texas

OpenStudy (brycehale):

x = 5

OpenStudy (brycehale):

That is the answer. I will work it out to show you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

naww texas has got it shes my friend

OpenStudy (brycehale):

5(2x-1)-3=2(4x+1 --> 10x - 5 - 3 = 8x + 2

OpenStudy (brycehale):

Oh my apologies.

OpenStudy (brycehale):

Have a good day. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its good lol thanxs anyways

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

5(2x - 1) - 3 = 2(4x - 1) --- distribute through the parenthesis all that means is multiply the number outside of the parenthesis by everything inside the parenthesis. So basically your problem is : 5 * 2x - 5 * 1 - 3 = 2 * 4x - 2 * 1 10x - 5 - 3 = 8x - 2 -- combine like terms 10x - 8 = 8x - 2 -- subtract 8x from both sides 10x - 8 - 8x = 8x - 8x - 2 -- combine terms 2x - 8 = -2 -- now add 8 to both sides 2x - 8 + 8 = -2 + 8 2x = 6 -- divide both sides by 2 x = 3 check 5(2(3) - 1) - 3 = 2(4(3) - 1) 5(6 - 1) - 3 = 2(12 - 1) 5(5) - 3 = 2(11) 25 - 3 = 22 22 = 22 (correct) so x = 3

OpenStudy (brycehale):

Dang I missed a step...

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

it can get a little bit confusing...thats why I always check my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm mathway said x=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe you should check

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oooppppsss....wrote the problem wrong...sorry 5(2x - 1) - 3 = 2(4x + 1) 10x - 5 - 3 = 8x + 2 10x - 8 = 8x + 2 10x - 8x = 2 + 8 2x = 10 x = 5 your right...x = 5 I am so sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its fine im learning for eoc
