OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

The answer is c
OpenStudy (helpmeplease14):
I poor that but I got it wrong
OpenStudy (anonymous):
subtract 4.00 from 31.8 and then add 2.5 which will then equal to 30.3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you only add the 2.5 because it says the tax was included in the total

I got it wrong

My teacher says it's b but idk how
OpenStudy (anonymous):
31.8 -4.00 =27.8 (here i subtracted the incorrect 4.00 from the total which includes the tax)
27.8+ 2.5= 30.3
the answer can't be 30.21 if tax was already included
OpenStudy (helpmeplease14):
Idk
OpenStudy (helpmeplease14):

If I call with c the cost with no tax, the I can write:
\[c + 0.06 \times c = 31.8\]
what is c?
OpenStudy (helpmeplease14):
30.30
OpenStudy (michele_laino):
no, I got c=30
OpenStudy (michele_laino):
now, we have to subtract 1.5 from c, since 1.5 is the difference 4-2.5
so we have:
c-1.5=30-1.5=...?
OpenStudy (helpmeplease14):
I got 28.5

These are the choices
OpenStudy (michele_laino):
ok!, Now we have to add the tax, to 28.5, so we have:
\[28.5 + 0.06 \times 28.5 = ...?\]
