OpenStudy (de47):

For triangle XYW, the slope of WX is , the slope of XY is 0.56, and the slope of YW is .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there a picture with this one?

OpenStudy (de47):

yeah, here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, do you know the formula for slope?

OpenStudy (de47):

y1-y2/x1-x2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, so you want to find the slope of WX. Can you set that up for me?

OpenStudy (de47):

oh wait sorry the question got altered, let me fix it, sorry

OpenStudy (de47):

For triangle XYW, the slope of WX is -2/5, the slope of XY is 0.56, and the slope of YW is 5/2. Which statement verifies that triangle WXY is a right triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, thanks, to prove that the triangle is a right triangle, you would want to show that the the slopes of WX and WY are opposite reciprocals of each other. That way they would be perpendicular and therefore form a 90 degree angle.

OpenStudy (de47):

Oh okay, thank you! I'm suffering the consequences of poor notes taking, lol
