OpenStudy (stuck-help):

metal fan how do i find the square root to an equation (a^2=324)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the sqyare root of 324 and that's your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a = square root of 324

OpenStudy (idku):

actually that is not exactly correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt(324) = 18 18^2 = 324 a = 18

OpenStudy (idku):

when you say "square root of 324" you are talking about the positive value of the root. (that is how we normally presume in math). when finding roots though, you have the +- sign

OpenStudy (idku):

why? because (-18)^2 and (18)^2 are both 324

OpenStudy (idku):

unless you have other conditions, by which you would exclude the negative solution

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

thank you i got it now

OpenStudy (idku):

sure. yw
