The sum of three consecutive numbers is 57. What is the largest of these numbers?

The trick to solving these is to set it up in this clever way. You know that 4 and 5 are consecutive numbers, that's obvious cause 5 is just right after 4. A mathematical way of saying that is that 5=4+1. Let's think about 8, 9, and 10. They're all consecutive too, so we can write that as 8, 8+1, and 8+2. If we didn't know what the numbers were though, we can say three consecutive numbers are n, n+1, and n+2.
