MEDAL FOR CHECKING-- Is it A ?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

It is not A :) The goal here is to make sure that both sides are equal once you plug in the variable

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

see how the two sides given equal 15? the two other sides should also be equivalent

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

you can check this by plugging in the value for the variable. 2x-9 x+8 2(15) -9 (15) +8 =21 =23 \(21\ne23\)

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

when plugging in "15" for the two equations, the numbers aren't equal. As soon as you find a number that makes both sides equal in value, that'll be your correct answer :)

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

@Lexi724 you following me here?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

yes

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

okay, good! Based from what I told you, what do you think the answer is now?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

its c they both equal 25
