MEDAL for help:

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

These two shapes are similar; therefore, that means that there's a ratio relating them. What we're looking for is a given relationship between two like sides

OpenStudy (lexi724):

right i get that.

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

so which two like sides are we given values for?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

AD and FG

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

yep! so the way you find the ratio is like this: 3:18 ^ but we can simplify this, can't we? what is 18 divided by 3?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

6

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

mhm. so basically, to make the bigger triangle, you multiply that side by 6. Since you're given that the larger side on the smaller rectangle is 5, and the ratio is 1:6, you would multiply 5 by 6. And that will give you the side of the larger rectangle Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (lexi724):

5*6=30

OpenStudy (lexi724):

yes, so D is my answer

OpenStudy (lexi724):

thank you :)
