So I wrote a story and submitted it to our local historical society magazine, and they accepted it! They pay $200 per article, which is better than the going rate for magazines in this town. Unfortunately, they do not pay writers until the article is in print, so I may have to wait awhile to get a check.

the usual rate of pay
